The financial sector since the advent of Basel II/Solvency 2 has made a transformation that has brought it closer to the way industry operates: they have mapped out processes and work in accordance with them. In 2003, the Compliance function was created, also established as part of the Basel regulations. Compliance and audit can be equated with industrial quality control, which makes use of quantitative production control techniques and tools that are also applicable to banking processes.
